How to Wash a Premium Cotton T-Shirt So It Lasts

Wash premium cotton T-shirts and polos cold (30°C or below), inside out, with similar colours and a mild detergent. Skip bleach and the tumble dryer, dry them flat or folded over a rail in the shade, and iron on warm only if needed. Heat and friction are what fade colour, shrink cotton and roughen the surface, so the gentler the routine, the longer the garment looks new.

The care label on every ROKKX Supima piece

Every ROKKX Supima crew and polo carries the same care label. These instructions come from the garment specification, so they are the ones to follow first.

Label saysWhy it matters
Machine wash cold, 30°CHot water makes cotton fibres contract and dyes bleed. Cold water cleans everyday wear well.
Please wash separatelyNew, deep colours can release a little dye in the first washes. Keep them away from whites and light shades.
Do not bleachBleach weakens cotton fibres and strips colour, even on white garments.
Do not tumble dryDryer heat is the biggest cause of shrinkage and a rough, faded surface.
Turn inside out before dryingProtects the outer face from sun and rubbing, so colour and surface stay even.
Use a warm ironA hot iron can flatten or shine the knit. Warm is enough for cotton jersey and pique.

Washing, step by step

  • Turn the T-shirt or polo inside out and do up the polo buttons.
  • Sort by colour: whites, lights and darks in separate loads, especially for the first few washes.
  • Use a mild liquid detergent and a cold or 30°C cycle; a gentle or delicate programme is ideal.
  • Do not overload the drum, so garments are not twisted and rubbed against each other.
  • Wash only when needed. A T-shirt worn for a few hours in an air-conditioned office can often be aired and worn again.

Drying: where most T-shirts are ruined

Skip the tumble dryer. Instead, reshape the T-shirt while damp, straighten the seams and collar, and dry it flat or folded over a rail or a wide hanger. Hanging a wet knit from the shoulders on a thin hanger or a clothes peg can stretch the neckline and leave bumps.

Dry in the shade or indoors with airflow. Strong direct sun, which Bengaluru has plenty of, fades colour over time; turning the garment inside out helps when shade is not available.

Ironing and storing

  • Iron on a warm setting, inside out, while the garment is very slightly damp.
  • For polos, press the collar from the underside and the placket last.
  • Fold T-shirts and polos rather than hanging them for long periods; knits can stretch on hangers.
  • Store away from direct sunlight and make sure garments are fully dry before putting them away.

Why Supima rewards good care

Supima is an extra-long staple cotton, so its yarn has fewer loose fibre ends than ordinary cotton. That is what keeps the surface smooth and resists pilling, but heat and harsh washing can still damage any cotton. ROKKX Supima pieces are also pre-shrunk and bio-silicon washed in production, which helps them keep their fit and soft face; a gentle routine at home lets those finishes do their job for longer.

Questions, answered

Can I put a Supima T-shirt in the dryer?

The ROKKX care label says do not tumble dry. Dryer heat is the main cause of cotton shrinkage and a faded, rough surface. Air dry instead, flat or folded over a rail, in the shade.

Will a ROKKX Supima T-shirt shrink?

ROKKX Supima pieces are pre-shrunk in production, which keeps the fit closer to the size you chose. Like any cotton, they can still shrink if washed hot or tumble dried, so follow the cold-wash, air-dry care label.

How often should I wash a premium T-shirt?

Wash when it needs it rather than after every short wear. Fewer, gentler washes keep colour and surface looking new for longer.

Can I use fabric softener?

It is not needed: ROKKX Supima garments already have a soft bio-silicon finish. If you use one, use a small amount, because heavy softener can build up and dull the fabric over time.
